Casino Sports Events

Boxing has been one of the sports most associated with casinos. Since the 1960s when Las Vegas began hosting some of the biggest fights in the country, the Strip has continued to be one of the major venues for boxing. However, it has, over the years, also become popular with a handful of other sports, too.

Boxing in Las Vegas

What makes boxing unique to Las Vegas is that betting on boxing is legal along the Strip. For this reason Caesar’s Palace has been one of the leading purveyors of big time fights. And when the big name fights are scheduled, they are nearly exclusively a celebrity event. Tickets are exorbitantly priced, all the best accommodations are booked and the events are a paparazzi dream.

Smaller casinos have long wanted to provide their audiences with the kind of boxing glamour that Las Vegas has enjoyed for decades. Unfortunately, in some smaller casino locations, sports like “ultimate fighting” and “mixed fighting” have remained, instead. These sports, though heralded to rival the popularity of boxing a number of years, ago have since failed in the attempt, but have managed to retain a small casino following. The enthusiastic few who regularly wager on the participants follow fighters with skills ranging from Sumo wrestling, to kickboxing, to karate and wrestling.

NASCAR Entertainment

NASCAR racing has finally teamed up with casino entertainment in the Las Vegas desert. The new Las Vegas Motor Speedway is one of the most spectacular and well-equipped speedways in the world. There are racetracks for go-karts, motocross or drag racing, among others. There is also a Mario Andretti Professional Racing School for the seriously addicted drivers.

Rodeos

Rodeos occasionally offer a distinctly country and western flavor of audience to some of the bigger name casinos in Las Vegas. Casinos count on events like this to attract families to whom they specifically market local sights and attractions besides providing their own theme park attractions for the kids. Also, rodeo events are often timed appropriately with country music acts rounding out the casino entertainment calendars, hoping to attract fans to their musical venues, too.

Sports Books

Within the United States, sports bookmaking is legal only in Nevada. For this reason, sports events are popular whether they are being presented live or via television. Las Vegas casinos offer comfortable and attractive sports book settings for the sports enthusiast who enjoys wagering on any kind of event.
