For years Las Vegas has thrived on the business of conventions and convention-goers. Resort casinos and hotels such as the newest Wynn Las Vegas Resort, the Bellagio, The Venetian and the MGM Grand have gone out of their way to provide some of the most desirable meeting spaces in the country. They typically feature a handful, at least, of upscale ballrooms that are capable of seating hundreds, along with offering accompanying world class catering for banquets. Their meeting facilities are as lavish as their casino floors and outfitted with the best in high-tech business equipment and communications capabilities. Add to this the close proximity of renowned golf courses and an increasing number of high end spas, and the casino resorts might just have the corner market on the most attractive locations for business goers mixing work with entertainment.

Convention Competition

Not only are the behemoths of resort casinos making a splash with conventions and trade shows, but many of the smaller casinos are making their case for entertaining business people. Indian casinos, some of them sizeable, are heavily competing for the same business that the bigger Las Vegas and Atlantic City resorts are competing for. Many of these locations offer cheaper deals, similarly appointed upscale meeting places and a rich assortment of local activities such as golf, skiing, hunting and boating. Plus, they are bundled with the same caliber of entertainment and casino gaming that the big casinos promise to provide.
